Rare Action Comics Detective Comics No. 15 1939 Golden Age Superman No Reserve
15 from August 1939. It looks to be in good unrestored condition. This comic was just found in the basement of a local estate, and has that “musty smell”. The stables are rusty. I don’t know enough about comics to try and grade this comic, so please look at the pictures and you be the judge. This comic was bought by a long time local collector as a child, and is fresh to the market. Please refer to pictures for actual condition as they are a major part of the description. If you have any questions I will try my best to answer them. Please see my other comics and great coins that are listed, from this long time local collector. I always leave feedback and hope you will do the same. The item “Rare Action Comics Detective Comics No. 15 1939 Golden Age Superman No Reserve” is in sale since Sunday, January 24, 2016. Superman #1 CGC 7.5 MEGA KEY Iconic Cover Origin Shuster Siegel DC Golden Age. Superman #1 1939 American Art Culture Treasure certified 7.5 by CGC. Superman is truly an American Treasure. Supermans place in American History, Pop Culture and Comic History has been etched before most of us were even born! . Superman is known universally across the globe and is an icon in the same way the names of Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan and Babe Ruth are. You can ask people who do not know a thing about sports and they will know exactly who each of those names are. In the same way, those that know little about comics know Superman. The significance of Superman in pop culture and American History cannot be understated and the significance of Superman #1 is broad and far reaching. Superman paved the way for countless others and began a trend that continues today and has become part of the fabric of our lives. Despite the fact that Action Comics #1 is the 1st appearance of the Man of Steel and it is also the comic that is known as the first true superhero comic, there is something uniquely special and Iconic about Superman #1. It might be the fact that it is the first comic to have Superman in the title or the fact that its the first issue of his regular title completely dedicated to Superman or it might be simply the fact that the iconic yellow cover coupled with the elusive back cover pin up are etched indelibly in every comic fans brain. Not to be overlooked is the fact that Superman #1 is just about as hard a book to acquire as Action Comics #1. How can you get this comic book for FREE? You should open an Overstreet Comic Book price guide from 1975 you will understand how this book is better than free. In fact, it doesnt matter what you pay for a book like this, its quality, demand and future is assured. Superman # 1 has never gone down in value. The number of collectors is always increasing as the supply of this book is decreasing due to damage, loss, black hole collections and changes in market perception like restoration. This comic is authenticated and certified by a third party, the industrys best, CGC, graded a 7.5, an unprecedented level of security that you are getting exactly what you want. This is an opportunity for any Comic, American History, Pop Culture, Art and rarity collector as well as any investor, or anyone else wants to own something special that can be displayed, treasured or just bragged about. This is a chance to join an exclusive club of people who own a copy of this national treasure. There are an estimated 150 to 250 copies said to exist and 111 or less (CGC census is sometimes inaccurately high due to resubmissions that are not removed from census) have walked thru CGC’s doors since their inception. There are only 2 unrestored CGC copies that have graded higher than 6.0 and only 14 restored copies that have graded high than 7.0. That’s a small amount compared to the 800,000 copies printed originally in 1939 and an even a smaller amount compared to the millions that want to own a copy within today’s collector/investor base. The reason for the shortage of copies of this comic is primarily due to the World War II paper drive. Kids and families across the nation were encouraged to help America’s effort in gathering resources to fight the Axis of Evil. Tons and tons of Golden Age comics were sacrificed because it was seen as your civic duty to help your country. With less than 250 believed to still exist, the demand for this comic is phenomenal. Make no mistake about it; someone will be the new owner of this special piece since we are proud to offer the example of this Grail with NO RESERVE. This particular Superman #1 has been professional examined and graded by CGC the top 3rd party independent comic grading service within the hobby and assigned a grade of 7.5. CGC has confirmed all the paper restoration work done and has assigned the appropriate grade. Unlike other restored copies, even the trained eye would have a hard time spotting the professional restoration job on the brilliant cover, which looks every bit VF/NM. THERE ARE ONLY 7 OTHER EXAMPLES THAT HAVE GRADED HIGHER! Close your eyes and imagine this comic on your wall or in your trophy case or just being able to say you own a copy.
