The original 1938 ACTION COMIC #1 is considered by collectors as the HOLY GRAIL of comics because of the low number that actually exist. With a print run of approximately 200,000 in 1938, less than 100 are thought to be in existence, and CGC has only graded less than 10 unrestored copies of Action Comics No. 1 over a 7.0 grade and less than 25 restored copies over a 7.0 grade. What makes this reprint just as special as the original is that it is part of a limited number of signed copies (839/2000) by Superman creator Jerry Siegel. (Jerry Siegel October 17,1914 – January 28, 1996). Even better it has been graded by CGC receiving a high grade of 9.8, serial number 1134470013. Prior to CGC coming into existence back in 2000 there were no third-party comic book grading services. At the time Dynamic Forces was the worlds leading supplier of signed comics and only Certificate Of Authenticities were provided. Hence this is the reason for the green label instead of the yellow label – signature series – on the slab since these were signed prior to CGC formation and were not witnessed by a CGC representative at the time of presentation. UPDATE – Going to end all my unsold listings at end of this listing period. In the early nineties, I worked for a comic shop and had access to some great rare items. The Creator Series was comprised of a few, high demand issues signed by the creators of Batman, Superman, and the X-Men. Gentlemen that did not sign a lot of their comics. So an issue of any importance with their signature makes for a high-value item. The comic has NEVER been out of its mylar case since I received it. I have been the sole owner. The comic comes with a very nice wood case with a brass certificate of authenticity. The case is lined with a soft, velvet material. This comic has been stored in a dry, dark environment its whole life – not exposed to light or humidity. This item is signed #605 of #1250. The condition is NM. I have loaded several photos to show accurate condition. Photos are of the specific item up for sale.
