WONDER WOMAN #88 COVER PRELIM by BRIAN BOLLAND. An amazingly detailed cover “prelim” by Brian Bolland from his cover run on Wonder Woman, complete with DC Logo, masthead and space for a UPC code. A prime example from the master in his pre-digital period, I would say “it’s almost as good as the actual cover” but in this case, it’s possibly better than the final cover. For some reason in the final version, the image was flipped and both characters turned a whole lot angrier. They should have gone with this version! Excellent condition, approx 8.25″ x 11.75″ (A4), pencil. Signed by Bolland under the image. Bright cover with no fading. Cover detached at both staples. Spine is torn at top and bottom and a small spot in the center, but tears are not fragile or progressing. Pages, supple with no flakiness or brittleness. Outer wrap is torn at top of spine, 3 tear on one page, plus some other small edge tears (photo #8). Centerfold is detached and is worn on right edge. Staples are in good shape with no rust migration. Back cover is worn with small tears and some small areas of color loss (see all photos). T his scarce and desirable Golden-Age issue features the 2nd appearance of Lois Lane on the cover and one of the best early covers in this title!
