RARE Action Comics #1 1976 Sleeping Bag Reprint CGC 8.0 Superman 1st Appearance
This is a 1976 reprint of Action Comics #1 with the sleeping bag advertisement on the back cover featuring the first appearance of Superman. The book and case are in excellent condition with a CGC grade of 8.0 and with white pages, it has great eye appeal and presents much nicer as the spine split is almost undetectable (see last picture). These paper covers are hard to grade in this 16-page reprint. This book looks to have been released just prior to the Safeguard edition. There is not a lot of information about these, but the Sleeping Bag edition looks to be more “rare” than the Safeguard edition, and the census seems to confirm this as well. Action Comics #1 (cover dated June 1938) is the first issue of the original run of the comic book series Action Comics. It features the first appearance of several comic-book heroes-most notably the Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster creation, Superman. It is widely considered to be both the beginning of the superhero genre and the most valuable comic book. Please see all the photos for the actual condition of this comic. Please see our other listings for more comics, books, media, DVDs, manga, toys, video games, and other collectibles.

This listing is for Superman #47, published by D. According to the CGC census, there are only 90 graded copies. This comic was rated 5.0 (“Very Good / Fine”) by CGC with “Off-White Pages”. Its CGC case shows a few Newton Rings (see last picture above). We want happy customers. Please be aware that if you crack a comic out of its case for re-submission to a grading service, you are taking the risk in doing so, and we cannot be liable if you do not like how it is regraded. Broad selection & fair prices. We make every effort to disclose non-trivial damage to the holders, but minor imperfections such as light surface wear or slight inner well scuffing (present at the time of encapsulation) are common straight from CGC/CBCS/PGX. Newton Rings are also extremely common in newly slabbed CGC books (CGC tried to better protect the books by sandwiching them tighter in the cases, but as a result, a very large portion of newly slabbed books have some degree of rings). If these are important to you, please message and we’ll be happy to provide more detail on the case. For those unfamiliar with Newton Rings: This is an occasional effect produced by the inner and outer cases being in direct contact with one another. The visual effect is similar to oil on a water puddle because of the two plastics. Ultimately it is not anything that is in direct contact with your comic, nor will it affect the comic’s condition over time. Gemma Adel, CGC.
