Funnyman #1 / 1st App (1948) Siegel Shuster Comic Book RARE KEY
First issue of Funnyman by Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. This is a very rare title and a genuine piece of comic book history. Comic is complete but in poor condition with detached/repaired cover, brittle pages, and extensive wear/aging. No strong odors, or mold/water damage that I can detect. Frankly, I love this comic and would much prefer not to sell it, but a job prospect fell through so I have to part with a few things to take care of expenses.

This listing is for Superman #8, published by D. This issue contains a full page ad for All Star Comics #3. According to the CGC census, there are only 208 graded copies. This comic was rated 7.0 (Fine / Very Fine) by CGC with “Off-White Pages”. CGC classified it as having “Slight / Moderate Restoration” due to Small amount of color touch on cover, pieces added to cover, tear seals to cover, spine split sealed to cover, staples replaced. Because of that, this comic is priced at a substantial discount to what you would otherwise expect to pay for a CGC 7.0. We want happy customers. Please be aware that if you crack a comic out of its case for re-submission to a grading service, you are taking the risk in doing so, and we cannot be liable if you do not like how it is regraded. Broad selection & fair prices. We make every effort to disclose non-trivial damage to the holders, but minor imperfections such as light surface wear or slight inner well scuffing (present at the time of encapsulation) are common straight from CGC/CBCS/PGX. Newton Rings are also extremely common in newly slabbed CGC books (CGC tried to better protect the books by sandwiching them tighter in the cases, but as a result, a very large portion of newly slabbed books have some degree of rings). If these are important to you, please message and we’ll be happy to provide more detail on the case. For those unfamiliar with Newton Rings: This is an occasional effect produced by the inner and outer cases being in direct contact with one another. The visual effect is similar to oil on a water puddle because of the two plastics. Ultimately it is not anything that is in direct contact with your comic, nor will it affect the comic’s condition over time. Gemma Adel, CGC.
