1940 Ideal Novelty Jointed Wood Composition 13 Superman Doll Figure

It’s also said to be the first superhero doll too. From the photos you can certainly see that it is far from perfect , however it is complete and could possibly make for a nice restoration candidate. The wooden torso and limbs are actually in decent condition and look well for their age. The waist belt label has flaked a bit but you can see the Ideal Novelty marking. The inner strings that bind it together appear to be loose but do have elasticity. I don’t feel they are in any danger of breaking. The doll lays nice and displays well despite the loosened strings. It’s possible to tighten if you have the skills. The composition is flaked away and cracked in a multitude of places throughout the upper body and moveable head. In addition to color loss on the chest and back, the “S” decal has wore off completely. There is no cape if there was one when I found this. Low grade, but affordable. There is chipping on the edges of the covers. The bottom of the spine has damage. There are some areas of staining inside. The 2 middle sheets (4 pages total) are loose from the staples.
