This is a great copy of the super rare SUPERMAN #5, 1940 Summer Issue, 4th appearance of Lex Luthor. It’s complete except for the following problem… At some point tried to do some home restoration and very neatly cut out superman’s head from a panel inside the book (see pictures) and tape it onto the head on the cover. And also, there’s a coupon that’s been ripped off the lower part of the back cover. And, at some point, someone put some tape on the spine. Other than that, all the pages are there and nothing else missing. The pages are pretty old and fragile, but the colors still look vibrant to my eye for a comic that is over 75 years old! There is no other restoration, other than the things mentioned, that I know of… This is a great classic rare superman comic from the Golden Age. Stories in this issue include “The Slot Machine Racket”, Campaign against the Planet”, “Luthor’s Incense Menace” “The Wonder Drug Racket and there are ads for Batman #1 and All-Star Comics #1.
